The second annual Holiday Food Drive is making a difference across Canada – $36,000 headed to food banks coast to coast to coast.
Make Space is thrilled to announce that through the hard work of our team members across all the Make Space Inc. brands, we have raised over $10,400 in cash and online donations and over 5,000 items of food and non-perishables!
Over six weeks locations across the country collected cash, food, and non-perishables for their local food banks as well as online donations for Food Banks Canada who fund over 4,700 food banks across Canada.
The goal of this food drive was to help put food on the tables of those who would otherwise have to go without. We are grateful to all our colleagues and donors who have made this possible.
Make Space Cares has committed to matching both the cash directed to local organizations as well as the online donations. But this year, considering both the immense need throughout the country and the hard work our teams have put into raising funds, we want to do more. Make Space Cares will be doubling the match on all donations, cash and online. That means that every donation will now make three times the impact. The Make Space Cares Committee will also be donating a minimum of $50 to all the organizations that received food donations even if no cash was raised.
With this, the total amount going to food banks across Canada is $36,000!
For this food drive the company was split into four teams who did their very best to outraise each other. With elaborate displays and donation boxes, PJ days, and partnerships with local organizations these teams duked it out for first place.
For the second year Make Space Storage Winnipeg teamed up with The Agape Table, a non-profit organization established to help feed Winnipeg’s most vulnerable people. Their event raised almost $3,000 in monetary donations and 324 items of food and non-perishables. This impactful event helped Winnipeg’s team Make Space Storage West take the top spot in this year’s competition.
